The hotel offers onsens and good bathing facilities and products within the onsen showers and change rooms. It's a small town this hotel is located in, but I felt this hotel added to the experience. I'm not sure why a lot of people comment that it's run down, I think aside from the carpet, everything is looking pretty good, and the rooms were fine. There might be a few things here and there, but for the most part, nothing was impacted. I also noticed a few people comment that there isn't a lot of English speaking staff, which, while true, it doesn't make for a problem. It's a small rural town. Learn a few Japanese words or use google translate on your phone if you can. I had no issues at all.

The Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The location of the ryokan was in extremely close proximity to Lake Towada which was our main target. And it was also very near the Lake Towada bus terminal which had bus services to Hirayu Onsen and Oirase. The ryokan, though bit old, was clean and well kept. Dinner on the first night was a big delicious spread of Japanese dishes, including crab claws! But self-service breakfast was a bit disappointing, not so much in variety of the food, but the venue and the way it was served, like eating in a canteen! A simple 3-course set breakfast would have been more welcomed.

The location was great. There's no city center as such at Lake Towadaso, but at least with this hotel there's a supermarket close by (walking distance) and you're at the Oirase Gorge within ten minutes (by car). The room itself, we had a Japanese style one, was fine. The onsen was really nice. It has an indoor and outdoor area and wasn't busy at the two times I went.

The Japanese-style room I stayed in was very large and comfortable. At first, the website mentioned a shared bathroom, which made me mistakenly think there was no private bathroom. In fact, there was a super large private bathroom in room, plus an shared bathhouse. After returning to the hotel, I could comfortably soak in the hot spring. The hotel's location is great, very close to the bus stop, making it very convenient for hiking in the Oirase Stream area. The hotel staff and service were excellent. I hope to stay here again on my next trip.

Standard Japanese-style hotel. A good value for the area. My second time here. The breakfast buffet is decent. The hotel been a reliable option for Towadako.

I had a pleasant stay here. It is an older hotel, but well managed and maintained. The facilities are good. Breakfast was respectable for the cost. The Japanese style room was spacious for one person. Wifi and A/C were working well. Water pressure and temperature in the ensuite bathroom were excellent. Staff was responsive and friendly. They have a place on the first floor to put bicycles for those who arrive that way. I would stay here again if I traveled this way.

Older style Japanese hotel which has past it's heyday. But very clean. Our room was huge. The dinner was fantastic, and the onsen baths lovely. The staff were very helpful in telling us about buses to Oirase Stream, as we wanted to walk the stream. The hotel is very close to the lake and shrine.

Some may find the location difficult to get to, especially during winter, but it’s worth the trek if you’re looking to be surrounded by nature with friendly staff, delicious dinners and a wonderful onsen.

They alternate the men’s/women’s baths by morning/night. The grand lobby is pretty grand! Mostly the traditional Japanese style rooms.

Enormous hotel with friendly and efficient staff, and a waterfall. Onson equally large. Ryokan room was very spacious with pleasant outlook. Hotel located close to lake and the included breakfast served a wide range of Asian-style foods.
